REGULATIONS

2nd International Chess Tournament for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

6th September – 14th September 2022

The total prize fund is 100 000 US dollars.

1. Tournament Classification

The Tournament is organized with the following objectives:
— To fulfill the decree of the President of the Republic Uzbekistan from 14th January 2021 “On measures to
further develop and popularize chess, as well as enhance the system of training chess players”,
— Engagement of youth, amateurs and qualified chess players to participate in chess competitions and
tournaments,
— Popularization and development of chess in Uzbekistan,
— Preservation and multiplication of cultural and sports traditions,
— Development of skills of Uzbekistan chess players.

2.Host Organizations.

The general management and organization of the competition is carried out by the Uzbekistan Chess
Federation (hereinafter UCF), supported by FIDE and in cooperation with the Agency for Youth Affairs of
the Republic of Uzbekistan. The direct management of the tournament is entrusted to the Board of Arbiters.

3.Time and Venue.

The Tournament takes place in the city of Tashkent from September 6th (arrival) till September 14
th(departure), 2022. On September 8th, September 9th and September 10th there will be two rounds per day.

4. Tournament System.

The Tournament will be held by Swiss system in two groups and three stages – online extra qualification,
final qualification (9 rounds, over the board) and the main tournament (10 rounds) group A and group B.
The online extra qualification for Uzbekistan participants with rating less than 1600 and unrated
participants will be held on chess.com platform on 27th August. The final qualification will be held in the
International Chess Academy on 2nd September. First forty places in the online extra qualification qualify
to the final qualification. First ten places in the final qualification qualify to the main tournament, group B.
Time control in the qualification: 3 minutes and a 2-second increment per move starting from move one.
The main tournament is a 10-round Swiss in two groups – main group A rated 2000 (FIDE standard rating)
and above and group B for the participants with rating 1600-2000. Time control in the main tournament:
90 minutes and a 30-second increment per move starting from move one.

5. Tournament Participants and Conditions.

The participation in the online extra qualification is available only for citizens of Uzbekistan and it’s
free of charge. All participants qualifying to the group stage final have to register for the final and
send their login and passport copy before 2nd September 2022.
The participation in the main tournament is free of charge for:
— Chess players with international titles GM, IM, WGM, WIM
Fees for the participants from Uzbekistan in both groups (to be paid till 5
th September):400 000 sums.

A 50% discount is provided for seniors 60 years old or older and for physically disabled persons.
