FIDE WORLD YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

INVITATION
The International Chess Federation (FIDE), the Confederation of Chess for Americas (CCA) and the
Brazilian Chess Federation (CBX), invite all the national chess federations members of FIDE to
participate in the World Youth Chess Championships 2024. The event will be held in Florianópolis (SC),
Brazil, from October 28th, 2024 (arrival) to November 10th, 2024 (departure).
PARTICIPATION
2.1. Every National Federation can register one official player in each category (under 14, 16, 18 years
old, Open and Girls). This total of six (6) Official Players plus one Accompanying Official (Captain or
Head of Delegation must have a FIDE ID – Regulations here) belonging to the national federation are
invited by the Organizers. A player must not have reached his/her 14th, 16th or 18th birthday,
respectively, before January 1st, 2024.
2.2. The players placed 1st-3rd in the previous U14, U16, U18 World Youth Championships 2023, and
the respective Champions (Gold medal) of the last Continental Youth Championships, shall have the
personal right (untransferable) to participate in the World Youth Championship of the corresponding
age-category or a higher age-category if the age stipulation of Art. 2.1 above is met. Such players
shall also be classified as Official Players and have to be registered by the national federation.
2.3. Players, other than Official Players, shall be classified as Additional Players. All other people, other than players or the Accompanying Officials, shall be classified as Accompanying Persons. Each National Federation shall be responsible for all the costs of their Additional Players and Accompanying Persons.
2.4. In order to provide appropriate tournament conditions, the Federations must complete carefully
the official online registration form and submit it to the Organizers by Monday, September 2nd , 2024.
After this deadline, the official players cannot be registered as invited players. Further participation
may not be accepted or accepted under an additional fee according to the FIDE regulations (item 8.3).
2.5. Important: According to the Brazilian national legislation, all minors (-18 years old) must always
be accompanied by one or by both parents or legal guardians during their stay at the hotels and must
present identification documents at check-in. In case of absence of both parents or legal guardians,
the child/adolescent must be accompanied by an adult who must present written legal authorization
granting powers for the care and custody of the minor.
