Almaty Region Open: Qonaev Cup 2025 — where strategy meets scenic beauty!
This August, the breathtaking Almaty Region welcomes top chess minds from around the world for a tournament unlike any other.
Qonaev Cup isn’t just the 3rd stage of the Kazakhstan Chess Cup — it’s a celebration of strategy, elegance, and nature combined.
Dates: August 3 (arrival) – August 13 (departure), 2025
Location: Almaty Region (exact venue to be announced)
The championship features three FIDE-rated tournaments:
▪️ Masters (2400+ ELO)
▪️ Challengers (1900–2399 ELO)
▪️ Open (1400–1899 ELO)
Format:
• 9 rounds, Swiss system
• Time control: 90 minutes + 30 sec increment per move
Total Prize Fund: $100,000
• Masters – $78,000
• Challengers – $15,000
• Open – $7,000
